Edward H. Moore

Edward Hall Moore (November 19, 1871September 2, 1950) was a United States Senator from Oklahoma. Born on a farm near Maryville, Missouri, he attended the public schools and Chillicothe Normal School. He taught school in Nodaway, Atchinson, and Jackson Counties, and graduated from the Kansas City School of Law in 1900. He was admitted to the bar in 1901 and began practice in Maryville; he moved shortly thereafter to Okmulgee, Oklahoma and practiced law until 1919. He was an oil producer, farmer, and cattle raiser from 1919 to 1942.
Moore was elected as a Republican to the U.S. Senate in 1942 and served from January 3, 1943, to January 3, 1949; he was not a candidate for renomination in 1948, and retired from public life and political activities. He died in Tulsa in 1950 and was interred in Okmulgee Cemetery.
